Big, bigger, Liebherr!

Normally I don’t throw around superlatives, but with the last project I did I can’t help it. The fair stand of Liebherr at bauma 2013 in Munich was simply incredible! You know, the title “world’s biggest trade fair stand” was hard achived!

It is well known that Liebherr manufactures kitchen appliances. But in addition to that they mainly produce machinery, like cranes, excavators, dozers… Thus it is not surprising that Liebherr exhibited its products at bauma trade fair in Munich, one of the largest construction machinery trade fairs in the world.

First of all you have to get rid of the classic image of a trade fair booth in your head. Because for bauma Liebherr built a four-storey building, 193 meters long and nearly 36 meters in width. Additionally there was an outdoor exhibition area of another 14,000 square meters, where the various machines were shown and demonstrated. Inside the building were about 80 conference and meeting rooms, as well as countless other small offices and locker rooms. There were four restaurants and bars in different categories as well as other lounges, coffee and tea areas for the guests. The stand was operated by a service crew of about 300 people and about 1,700 dealers, who explained the exhibited machines. Dimensions which can’t be compared with any “normal” booth. I was booked for the logistic processes by plan j from Frankfurt, the agency which took care of the operation of the Liebherr Stand (catering, route management and services). That means that I have monitored the orders in advance, coordinated deliveries and pick-ups, wrote schedules and so on. On site I then monitored the assembly and dismantling, controlled stocks and flows. One of my duties was the coordination of the coffee machines and order of the corresponding capsules (George Clooney can greet at this point). During the exhibition period 48,000 coffee capsules were consumed. Again we are talking about dimensions that I have not experienced before.

The preparation of the project and the week at bauma were a lot of fun, exhausting and incredibly instructive. At this point I’d like to thank the team of plan j for the great time and I’m looking forward to the next project in June.

Rock & Heat in the Pit

Who would have thought that a presentation of heat pumps could rock like this? It was hot in every sense of the word! The facts: 400 guests, 6 styled heat pumps, 3 great artists, 1 TV presenter and a very extraordinary location.

On February 15th, 2013 heat pump producer Waterkotte revealed its new developed and fresh designed heat pumps to a selected group of 400 clients at Zeche Zollverein in Essen / Germany. TV presenter Claudia Kleinert led through the entertaining evening, which was a successful blend of a gala reception, product presentation and rock concert.

After the two appetizer courses CEO Dr. Johanes Book revealed the four new product groups in their various versions. Not for the first time I was able to witness how very down to earth business people go completely crazy when they see their new products – in short, the audience loved it!

After this emotional highlight the event went over to the rocky part of the evening. During the next three hours three well-known artists rocked the stage. Country singer Gunter Gabriel (“Hey Boss ich brauch mehr Geld“), the Münchner Freiheit (“Ohne dich“) and Chris Thompson (“Blinded by the Light“) made ​​for hot atmosphere among the guests. The dance floor filled up, the DJ took over and finally the event ended in the early morning hours.

My job that night was to support the director as assistant and coordinate the action behind the scenes as Backstage Manager. Thanks for the anew recommendation and excellent cooperation to Event Director Lienhard Schäfer!

Monte Carlo, Sunshine and Samsung

What a sight it was, when I was approaching Monaco by helicopter shuttle. The blue sky above me, below me, the blue Mediterranean, the sun on my back and one of the greatest cities in front of me. It seems that no spot of the tiny enclave is untilled. Houses as far as you can see. But let’s start at the very beginning…



From February 4th till 8th the Samsung Forum 2012 of Samsung Electronics took place in Monaco. During this conference, several new products were presented and introduced to the press. Among others there was a press conference of the “Home Aplliances” department, during which a new washing machine and a new refrigerator were presented. The highlight of the press conference was by far the keynote speech of Samsung President BK Yoon.

The leading agency e.Style booked me on the recommendation of director Lienhard Schäfer as Assistant to the Director and Backstage Manager. So I supported Lienhard in implementing and organizing the rehearsals, cared about the welfare of the master of ceremony, speakers and stage actors and sent them on stage during the show.

At this point, once again, thanks a lot for this great job and the wonderful time in Monaco to!

Oldtimer, Drums and cool Cars!

Last year ended for me not only with a big bang, but with drums and cool cars! Just as rapidly as the year 2012 began for me with the “International Dealer Conference 2012” of Daimler AG and “Campus Cooking”, it continued in the second half.

From July to November, I worked as project manager for the day-time event of the “Employee Information and Integrity Day” of Mercedes-Benz Bank. After a major restructuring almost 2,000 employees from all over Germany were invited to the headquarters in Stuttgart. The main idea of ​​”hiking” should give the participants the opportunity to visit all floors and areas of the headquarters. On the other hand, all departments had the task to present themselves and their activities. So, scattered throughout the whole building, there was a total of 55 exhibitions of all stripes – from the classic PowerPoint to interactive theater scenes to Bobby Car Courses. In the two levels of the underground parking lot an eDrive course and an exhibition of vehicles with classic cars, modern cars and prototypes were located. Outside the headquarters there was also an information truck on integrity and in the theater opposite the bank building an integrity event was held. In addition to coordinating the day-time event, especially the safety aspect – both of the participants, as well as the vehicles – was in my field of activity. I’d like to say thank you once again to the agency Jaeger + Haeckerhase for the booking and the outstanding cooperation!

AOK Baden-Württemberg // AOK-Day 2012

In October I was in service as project manager for the AOK-Day 2012 of the AOK Baden-Württemberg (General Health Insurance of Baden-Württemberg). The AOK-Day is an information session with incentive character for approximately 1,500 selected employees. They come together for a day in a city in Baden-Württemberg – last year it was Ludwigsburg. The main topic this year was the successful structural change and development of the AOK. The emotional highlight of the event was the interactive drum workshop at the end of the session. Like last year, I was booked by Karl M. Turner for organizing the logistics and general flow of the event. Thanks again!

Toyota Deutschland // Nationale Tagung 2012

Last but not least, in December I led the subprojects Guest Management (including the hotel and transfer services) and hostesses at the dealer and vendor meetings of Toyota Germany. Overall, nearly 3,000 guests were invited to the Rosengarten in Mannheim. During the sessions, the participants were sworn in to the new year and were given first glimpses of the new vehicles. One of the highlights of the meetings was the Toyota Christmas Market, which was built in front of the Rosengarten. A successful meeting organized by the agency Jaeger + Haeckerhase brought a successful end of the year for me.

Top chefs – Top prices – Top action

Now for the eighth time Telekom Campus Cooking is touring through Germany – this semester I’m part of it! Campus Cooking, that means two top chefs are each visiting five university cafeterias. There they will cook high class food for student friendly prices for one week. The overall theme of Campus Cooking is “Food is communication”. Besides that this semester’s tour wants to show that high class cooking doesn’t mean that you need lots of expensive equipment. Thus our chefs Stefan Wiertz and Kevin von Holt are cooking “All out of one pot”. Well sounding dishes like “Confit Chicken-leg”, “Apple-nut-Couscous” or “Crispy pork beef on beet vegetables” will be served at the university cafeterias of Bonn, Erlangen, Dortmund, Mannheim, Halle (Saale), Münster, Würzburg, Marburg, Kiel and Paderborn. A total of 45,000 meals will be handed over the counter!

The extent of the Campus Cooking Tour was already noticeable during the preparation phase. In addition to pure organizational tasks in the office of DO IT! all sites had to be visited and inspected. So I’ve spent about 60 hours on the highway or on a plane, drove 3,674 km by car and drank round about 30 cups of Cappuccino on my way.

From an organizational point of view I was in charge of the arrangements with all sites, the cooks, promoters and service providers. In close cooperation with the client I coordinated the design, production and logistics of the promotion material. I planned the travel logistics, wrote all briefing documents and finally supervised 5 out of 10 sites.

Eventful months of organization are behind me. The Campus Cooking Tour started and four universities were already enjoying the delicious dishes. So far everything has worked perfectly and now I’m looking forward to visit the remaining sites.

It is my pleasure to announce that during the next few weeks I will support the agency DO IT! from Düsseldorf at the preparations and execution of two promotional roadshows for a large German telecommunications provider. Since both projects are currently in the hot phase of preparation, I won’t publish any further details at this point. However, as much should be revealed: Both, a casserole and a circus tent will play leading roles… Two exciting tasks are ahead of me.
